Tax-Exempt Bond Compliance Conference
The Tax-Exempt Bond Compliance Conference is designed for University staff, new or experienced, responsible for managing tax-exempt bond compliance. Tax and finance practitioners come together to address the many aspects of post-issuance compliance, not just private business use. Regulatory changes from the SEC and IRS routinely modify the ongoing practices for compliance; how will your team manage changing compliance obligations? For those accountable for this compliance, this conference enables practitioners and experts to share perspectives of this complex topic.
Learning Objectives Include:
- Review of the basic obligations of compliance
- Understand arbitrage during this period of increased interest rates
- Provide detailed understanding and measurement tools for private business use, including the allowable exceptions and safe harbors
- Examine the existing and new rules under the SEC 15(c)2-12 disclosure requirements
- Along with valuable educational sessions, the conference encourages participants to expand their professional network with other practitioners in Higher Education confronted with similar compliance obligations.

Why this conference is a good thing!
This conference is a great resource as it helps one learn and understand the in’s and out’s of tax-exempt bonds. It can help to develop a great foundation for new staff. Some direct benefits I’ve received as a tax professional include interpreting and understanding private business use issues and confidence in our Form 990 reporting. I continue to attend so I can keep up with the latest tax and bond reporting requirements. I also find the conference to be a great place to network and develop contacts with fellow tax/treasury professionals so when I have issues in my day- to-day compliance efforts I have a network to turn to.

Attending with other higher ed institutions helps in identifying somewhat unique challenges and solutions that have been successfully implemented at other institutions. Taking this knowledge back to our campus helps in improving the tax-exempt bond compliance environment at my home institution. Encouraging my staff to attend also creates a basis for a fruitful follow up discussion of new things learned and their practical applications at our institution.
